Mothercare CEO leaves after third profit warning

Ben Gordon was chief executive officer of the company since 2002

17/10/2011

Juvenile products company Mothercare will announce a change in leadership after Ben Gordon left his role as CEO by mutual consent. Gordon will be stepping down on 17th November 2011, when the company publishes its interim results and after nine years in front of the business, leading the international expansion of the group that took Mothercare to operate in 55 countries worldwide.

Alan Parker, Chairman, will be supervising the executive team, thus acting as CEO until a replacement is found.

Last week, the company's shares fell 42% after its third profit warning in a year: sales in the UK are stalling and the company could close 121 of its 377 stores in the country, in order to focus on the international market.
