Black Friday’s consume increases in Spain

More than 154 million consumers shopped in stores an online globally

It was developed during the 60’s decade in the United States and reached our Spain in 2012 to stay. Black Friday takes place last Friday of November, coinciding with the day after of Thanksgiving in US and the beginning of the Christmas Campaign. Globally, it is the most consumer day of the year, as a consequence of the significant discounts that most of the retailers and shopping malls apply to their products. This year, more than 154 consumers shopped both in stores and online.

Black Friday surpasses Santa Claus

It seems to be that North American traditions are more and more successful in Spain, so Black Friday has get to exceed itself year after year in this country, where it is the second day in terms of shopping, after the previous day of ‘Reyes Magos’ and before Santa Claus, according to a study by Worten and Gfk.

According with the data from the website blackfriday.sales, Spanish spent last Friday November 25th around 29% than during the same day of the previous year, leaping from 109€ of spending to 141€. Actually, according to commerce, sales can increase during this date between 20 and 30%, surpassing the figures of the sales first day.

Amazon surpasses itself

The electronic commerce giant sold more than 940.000 products during the Spanish Black Friday, making last Friday 25th November turn into the day of more sales of the company, over the record registered during the Prime Day, according to a report by the company. In fact, the online store sold more than 10 articles per second in our country, and the minute of more sales within the day was at 10:47 a.m., when more than 640 orders where registered.

Some of the most sold products during this date through Amazon were FIFA 2016, Call of Duty Infinite Warfare or Uncharted 4, the Vacuum Robot iRobot Roomba 871, the training clock with GPS Polar M400 HR, and the Playstation 4 Slim, among others.

Online sales of El Corte Inglés

The Spanish distribution group El Corte Inglés, on its behalf, increased online sales 70% year to year during the celebration of Black Friday. In that sense, most sold articles where high gamma TVs, computers and mobiles in terms of technology. I the segment of electrical appliances, leaders were washing machines, refrigerators and dishwashers; meanwhile, in fashion, coats, boots, bags and costume jewellery were the leaders.
