Carrefour's sales rose 0.9% in the first six months of the year, reaching €43.6 billion, thanks largely to growth in Latin America and Asia. In France, a market that records more than a quarter of the company's revenues, sales fell 0.7% to €11.4 billion. The two markets with the worst performance were Spain (€4.3 billion, -4.2%) and Italy (€2.9 billion, -3.3%).

The company believes that its results in Europe are "satisfactory, given the increasing pressure on consumption, especially in southern Europe and particularly in Spain, where nevertheless the trend to lower turnover has slowed down. "

In Asia, revenue grew by 9.4% to €4.6 billion, and in Latin America, 5.3% to €8.7 billion.

The distributor has closed the semester with 101 new stores, after deducting the 83 closures and 12 transfers, all in Europe.

The total group revenues in the second quarter show a drop of 0.3%.
