Social media is the main source of information for Britons under 25, according to a Reuters Institute report.
43% of young people between 16 and 24 read news through Twitter and Facebook, while in the case of those over 45 years, the percentage drops to 11%. Most of them read news on the Internet through online search engines like Google.
The most popular social network for sharing this content is Facebook, with 55% of young people using it. Email is used by 33% and Twitter by 23%.
According to the report, European citizens are less interested than Americans in the exchange of news.
