The Angry Birds movie hits box office records in Spain and US
The film collected 1,6 million euros in its first weekend in Spain

Last Friday march 13th the Spanish cinema screens saw the arrival of The Angry Birds movie premiere, based on the popular Rovio’s videogame. In its first exhibition weekend, the movie had collected 1,6 million euros according to Rentrak Spain dates. A week after, the movie brought its successful premiere to the United States screens, where it got 39 million dollar, surpassing the Captain America: Civil War figures (33,1 million) and Neighbours 2: Soriority Rising (21,8 million dollar). This way, the movie in which a group of furious birds fight with green pigs got to fulfil the expectation and was described as an “outstanding movie” by spectators under the age of 25.
Moreover, the global marketing and distribution president of Sony, Josh Greenstein, stand out the powerful developing of the film internationally. Furthermore, explained that the movie will follow a positive way in the next few weeks because there is no other competitor in the family market until there arrives the Finding Dory premiere, on June 17th.
