The firm’s profits increased by 62% in 2010, reaching £428 million, compared with £264 million in 2009. Sales grew from £1,394 to £1,844 million, after an increase in market share of 1,1 points up to 5,9% of the market share. Lego is now the fourth world toy manufacturer.

The company’s management was especially satisfied with growth in United States, UK, Russia, and Eastern Europe, as well as with the good results achieved by Star Wars products: Lego is the first manufacturer of this line with 65% of the total toy license.

Lego agrees with market analysts and expects modest growth in 2011 and a new increase in sales, mostly in Europe, North America and China, although last years numbers won’t be easily reached.

The firm plans focusing in its videogames and preschool lines, without leaving aside classical products. Lego will also continue its process of expanding production and warehouse capacity. In fact, the company increased its workforce to an average of 8,365 full﷓time employees last year, 1,079 more than in 2009.
