According to the study Infertility in Spain: tic-tac, tic-tac, led by Albert Esteve from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), one in four women born in 1975 will not have children when they reach age 50. Although these women, who are now between 35 and 40, want to be mothers, their reproductive project is truncated due to lack of the necessary elements that enable motherhood. This will be one of the most barren women generations of the past 130 years. Let’s see which the main reasons are:

1. Biological reasons that prevent women become mothers, that is, primary infertility. This represents only 2% of the female population. In addition to that every time there are more and better methods that can help to assisted reproduction.

2. NoMo generation: women who choose not to have children, ie infertility desired. This represents 5% of women.

3. Women who can and want to have children but do not arise because they are considered young to take this step, is what is known as normative infertility.

4. Women who can and want to have children, are in the age socially considered to be a mother but postponed the decision because they don't meet the family conditions and / or optimal materials to assume such costs, is what is known as a temporary infertility.

5. Women who decide to become mothers but don’t become pregnant, experiencing conditions of low fertility or infertility with age supervening, which particularly increases after 35 years.
