Disney Consumer Products has officially introduced Lucasfilm to all licensing professionals present at Licensing Expo, during an event in which Bob Chapek. president of the consumer products division of the company, said, "There is simply no better time in history for licensees and retailers to be associated with Disney.”

And not without reason, if we consider that according to the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association, LIMA, Disney gathers 80% of the industry revenue in the US and Canada, ie, $39.4 billion of the $50 billion of licensed products sales in this market. In fact, the company has 6 of the top 10 global properties: Disney Princess (1), Star Wars (2), Winnie the Pooh (3), Cars (4), Mickey & Friends (6), and Toy Story (8), besides Disney Fairies (11) and Spiderman (16) in the top 20.

The company also announced that it will boost the role of Minnie Mouse as fashion icon in 2014, securing its second position as a brand for girls after Disney Princess, and has also provided new features for Star Wars, The Avengers, and Spider-Man, in addition to The Good Dinosaur, a Pixar film to be released in 2014.

Chapek explained that the goal is to leverage the wide company's content to focus on the consumer through technology and innovative products.
