El Corte Inglés turns 75 years old
The company counts with a rough benefit of 120 million euros

It was born as a tailor shop and, currently, El Corte Inglés celebrates already its 75 birthday as the first big European mall in terms of sales volume, with an approximated benefit of 120 million euros and thinking about the international expansion, one of the main goals of Dimas Jimeno Alvarez, its current president. From its origins, the group has stand out for keep a client attention policy as well as a constant interest for fitting the society needs and changes. In order to celebrate its birthday, the company will carry out different commemorative actions which will be develop till the summer, such as special spots due to got visibility in the media, exhibitions, or commercial fairs in all its establishments.
Looking at the immediate future, “El Corte Inglés will focus on keep on growing by adapting itself the Spanish society changes”, according its Communication and External Relations director, Diego Copado, who confirms the sale of 200 assets.
Currently, the chain has got more than 90.000 employers. A few days ago, the group reached an agreement with some syndicates in order to carry out a voluntary leave plan for more than 1.400 employers. In that sense, those employers who have been working there for more than 15 years could leave their place receiving 70% of their current salary. Although, there will be also new staff incorporations.
