José de la Gándara, consejero delegado de Famosa

Famosa has closed its 2012-2013 financial year with a turnover of €208 million, 2 million more than the previous year. This figure is a "slight disappointment, because we expected to grow more", says José de la Gándara, CEO of the company. The toy maker achieved these results thanks to better sales in international markets, which offset the difficult situation of Spain, a country accounting for 40% of the company's revenues.

Famosa expects to grow thanks to the international business and to the improvement of the situation in Spain, and plans to reach sales of €230 million for the year ending in August 2014 - an increase in turnover of 10.6%.

The company, present in over 95 countries, highlights the positive in countries such as France, Italy, Mexico, the United Kingdom , "where we are picking up speed", and the United States, a difficult market in which "we are growing year after year." The objective is to consolidate the toy maker as " a global company very focused on Europe and America."

New facilities in Alicante

De la Gándara presented these figures during the opening of a new factory in Alicante (Spain) - 24,000 square meters where the company manufactures "25% of the toys we sell," under the Feber brand. Famosa also manufactures this brand's products in Monterrey (Mexico), while the rest of its toys are produced in China. The firm employs 700 people worldwide.
