04/02/2015

Hasbro Studios is producing a "My Little Pony" movie, set to release in 2017. The film will be one of the first produced through Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures.

The Pony film will be co-executive produced by Megan McCarthy, who produces the latest revival of the franchise (the television series "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic"). Joe Ballarini, will write the script.

Since "Friendship Is Magic" debuted, the franchise has seen a resurgence in popularity. There have been several direct-to-home-video film releases in the franchise, but not a full theatrical release. A number of fan-driven projects have also sprouted up since the series began, including the Kickstarted documentary "Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony".
