Increase in Spain's buying budget for Christmas

24% of Spaniards intend to spend an average of 69€ on their purchases, while 21% expect to spend more than 1,200€

According to the latest data provided by the Cetelem Observatory on the expenses that the Spanish will carry out during the Christmas holidays, the consumer budget in the country for this year amounts to € 450; a figure that represents growth of 8% compared to 2015, and 14% compared to 2014.

In this way, the report says that 24% of Spaniards intend to spend an average of €69 on their purchases, while 21% expect to spend more than €1,200 on gifts. Thus, the majority of consumers surveyed by Cetelem (55.8%) will have the same available budget as in 2015. However, for its part, 17.8% will have a larger budget, which represents an increase of 7.6 percentage points compared to 2014. Likewise, the Spanish who declare having less budget than in previous years is still a percentage in downward trend since 2014, going from 37.2% to 26, 4% in 2016.

On the other hand, the report also mentions which products are going to be the most bought during the Christmas campaign, highlighting clothing as leader (65.5%), followed by footwear and accessories (42.4%), perfumes (40, 7%), toys (40.2%), and books (39.1%).
