Warner Bros. has delayed the release of the sequel to Man of Steel in which Superman (Henry Cavill) would face Batman (Ben Affleck). The film, with the working title of Batman vs. Superman , was scheduled for July 17, 2015, but will hit theaters on May 6, 2016.

According to the company, this change is determined by production needs. The firm did not mention how this change may affect the planned movie about the Justice League, prevously rumoured to premiere in 2015. Also, another factor for this decision could be the fact that the sequel to The Avengers also opens in 2015.

In July 17, 2015 Warner Bros. will released a still untitled new production about Peter Pan, directed by Joe Wright and starring Hugh Jackman. And the competition has also announced a move to this slot - Disney has decided to use this same weekend to schedule the release of Ant-Man, another superhero movie from the Marvel universe.
