Universal Studios reported a 38 percent increase in profits in the fourth quarter of 2014 in its theme park division, driven in part by the theme park "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter -- Diagon Alley", which opened last July in Orlando, Florida.
This theme park, which is an extension of Universal's existing Harry Potter-themed area that opened in 2010 in Orlando, helped Comcast Corp's Universal Studios theme park unit see revenues increase to $735 million.
“Investments in our theme parks are clearly generating strong returns as we drive increased attendance and per capita spending,” said chief financial officer, Michael Angelakis. “We are transforming our parks into must-see destinations and are very enthusiastic about their potential.”
Comcast now has a further Harry Potter attraction scheduled to open at its Universal Studios Hollywood theme park in California next year.
