Hamleys lands in Mexico

The opening is expected to be the first of 10 stores to open in the region over the next eight years

The british toy company Hamley’s has arrived to Mexico with its first store in the city of Polanco, which is expected to be the first of 10 stores to open in the region over the next eight years. The british company has partnered with Mexical Real Estate firm Grupo Sordo Madaleno to open the shop.

In this sense, the real estate company’s general manager, Jose Juan Sordo Madaleno, who is also investing 200 million pesos into the venture, said: “We are thinking of opening four Hamleys stores in Mexico City and the remainder in Guadalajara, Puebla, Querétaro and Monterrey, among other locations. Hamleys approached Sordo Madaleno with the Mexican franchise, and we loved it.”

Hamleys currently operates 11 stores across the UK, and 46 international franchises. Mexico is the 20th country the company has ventured into, and also is planning to expand into the USA and Colombia.
