Games and puzzle company The Ravensburger Group has acquired the Swedish toy company Brio, from the Swedish investor Proventus. Brio is best known for its high quality wooden train sets and is qualified as one of the most prestigious brands in the toy market. The acquisition also includes Alga, the Swedish market leader in board games.
Brio will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary based in Malmö under its existing management. The acquisition brings together two family-run businesses, which share a similar corporate and product philosophy and with a long lasting tradition since Ravensburger was founded 131 years ago and Brio, 130 ago.
