VTech to acquire Leapfrog

The toy company plans to obtain 100 percent of the outstanding common stock of Leapfrog

09/02/2016

The children electronic articles manufacturer Leapfrog will be acquired by VTech Holdings Ltd. for the figure of 72 million dollar, according to a report from the company.

The merger agreement contemplates that VTech will pay 1 dollar for each leapfrog share, which represents a 75% premium over the closing price. In that sense, VTech has planed to acquire 100% of the outstanding common stock of the toy company: “the acquisition will allow us to offer the broadest portfolio of products that enhances the education and development of children across the world, while bringing them fun and joy”, assures Allan Wong, chairman and CEO of VTech. Further, Leapfrog registered 41% less of sales in 2015 than in the previous year. That is why the agreement will be welcomed for both companies, helping them fulfil commercial goals and bringing benefits to millions of families.
